Bloch ballet shoes where founded by Jacob Bloch in Sydney Australia in 1932. Jacob Bloch was born in Russia, but came to Europe in 1931 and then he moved to Australia, during the highest point of the Great Depression. In order to obtain a little bit of money to support and feed his family, he began making shoes by hand inside his workshop. He always enjoyed watching ballet, and visited many different dance studios to watch and study the movements. During one of his visits to a dance studio, he noticed one girl that was having trouble staying on pointe. Pointe which means on tips of the toes requires dancers to remain on the tips of their toes for long periods of time.

The purpose of this is to make the dancer seem weightless and sylph-like. After watching her struggle with this particular process, he told her he would make her a better pair of ballet shoes so she can do the pointe easier. That's exactly what he did. After that, Jacobs's reputation for making great dance shoes began to spread because of the great quality and craftsmanship. During the late 1930's, many Ballet companies that toured Australia began to purchase the ballet shoes that Jacob made.

There were many companies but two of the most well know were De Basil's Monte Carlo Russian Ballet and the original Russian Ballet. Jacob began to make shoes for Spessiva, Baranova, David Lichine and many others to the way they specified. Today, the Bloch family still listens and makes shoes that are aesthetic and functional for every dancer, their goal like Jacobs back in 1932, is to meet every dancers needs to the best of their ability. They offer hand crafted ballet and pointe shoes, for many dancers worldwide. Each one is crafted to fit the curvature of the foot, offers protection and sustainability for all those long timeless hours of practice.

Since there creation in 1932, Bloch ballet shoes have provided the best quality shoes to help create some of the worlds best ballerinas. The dedication and hard work of one man changed the way many ballerinas performed on stage. Bloch shoes are available in many different styles and colors. They are also available in leather, canvas, satin and suede. If you wish to purchase or find the many different options and styles to choose from, you can do so almost anywhere online.
