Many people, when they put on their first tutu, are a little bit unsure about how to do it. They assume you simply step into the tutu and you automatically look graceful. This may be the case for some, but not always. Even if you never think you'll wear a tutu, read on. You may never know when you need a tutu for a dance production or play, and you'll want to look good while wearing it. For those who are dancing professionally, a professional tutu is required. You will need to talk to your instructor about what is allowed and what is not. You do not want to get to the production and find out that you've purchased the wrong item. Once you've discovered what is and isn't allowed, you will be able to get an idea of what is out there. If you are dancing in something that is classical, you will find that your tutu can be a little more laid back. If you are dancing with others, check again with the main person in charge. You will want to color-coordinate or style-coordinate your tutu with the other people in the production as much as possible. Generally, the classical tutu will have a short skirt and will be pink with white tights - the "traditional" look.

Other options for tutus do exist as well. You will find that you can get a tutu that is more romantic and that has move layers and more designs. Your other option is a bell style, which is a shortly shorter style that should be worn as if you are hanging it from the hip. Before you even wear your tutu to the dress rehearsal, you need to practice putting it on. Always make sure you put your tights on before you put your tutu on. Your tights will slip on easily, just as a pair of paints would. Your next step is to slip on the tutu just as you would a pair of pants, and then stand in front of a full-length mirror. Adjust the tutu so that it looks professional and doesn't show anything that it isn't designed too. Make sure that there are no wrinkles or stains in the fabric, and then spin around. The final step is your ballet shoes. Practice tying them a few times and ensure that they are comfortable.

Remember, you'll be dancing in these for quite awhile, so you don't want to come out of the production with injured toes. Finally, remember to practice dancing with your tutu alone in your room. This will allow you to feel more comfortable with your tutu, and keep you looking great. Do you not have a tutu yet?
